Musings from the Mantis Mastermind:

A frequent request from women at card shows is that we create a birthday card for men.  Cars, food, liquor, money, and sports were advanced as “guy” themes.

While traditional popular culture has played with these stereotypes, it really isn’t “our thing.” No judgment on manly men and girly girls, but we think sending a themed card focused on the specific personality and interests of the recipient is more compelling.

Still, we percolated on what a generic birthday card for men could be. We thought it would be fun if we identified some great men from history and placed them in a “bro bonding” venue like the outdoors.

There were many candidates, but we landed on Da Vinci, Einstein, and Galileo around a campfire.  Each is offering sage advice to the other and the card recipient. This invites the birthday boy into the conversation and helps drive him towards his own destiny.

The Result: Three Wise Guys
