Musings from the Mantis Mastermind:

This creation is the first in a series dedicated to sacred architecture in America. We decided to move to a point where East meets West. We found it in our 50th state on the island of Oahu in the Valley of the Temples. Byodo-in Temple is an exquisite replica of a Japanese temple that is nearly one thousand years old. Though America’s Buddhist masterpiece is open to all faiths, there are so many teachings from this faith tradition that as a practical matter, it would be difficult to find fault with. Hawaii’s temple honors the first Japanese immigrants to America who arrived 155 years ago to the islands, where over a thousand years earlier the first Hawaiians cultivated a rich and now resurgent culture.
