Watching Scott Cooper’s film, The Pale Blue Eye, Art Director Amy Anderson, and I both considered that Edgar Allen Poe would be an engaging subject for a kirigami construction.

The progenitor of the short story, the detective story, the horror genre, he created dark beauty in his verse. Similarly, his epic poem The Raven added to raven mythology as not only a foreboding omen, but also transformation, insight, depth of emotion. Indigenous cultures, the Tower of London and an NFL franchise feature the bird as a centerpiece to their stories.

The remnants of Poe endure in museums in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and Richmond, in film, college curriculums, affinity associations and Halloween events. We are excited to add to the body of memory honoring the writer and his work.
