Musings from the Mantis Mastermind:

In fact, Jules Verne and H.G. Wells never met.  And yet their contrasting approaches to their extraordinary exploits created a new fictional genre. Wells was born nearly four decades after Verne. However, we thought it would be fun to place them in flight together. The French writer Verne was fascinated with the scientific development of his times and extended the possibilities of those developments in the technology-enabled exploits he wrote about. If Verne was enamored with the possibilities of scientific progress, Wells offered a more cautionary tale of its destructive power.
